Ghosts & Goblins aren't the Only Invisible Souls

Updated: Oct 4

As a rug rat, I didn't think it was bad to be ignored. There were moments when I didn't want anything more than to fade into the ether. This could be because I broke a plate or left a drink-ring on the coffee table. Like most parents mine likely appreciated a little break from me so playing an invisable girl was mutually beneficial.

However, as a 52-year-old single woman (for lack of a better word) being invisible is the last thing I want. If I leave my apartment thinking I look attractive...not 21-year-old attractive, but 50-something attractive, I expect that at least one man might look my way. They don't need to make a proclamation in a town square about my attractiveness. Maybe a turned head, a smile or not letting the door smack me in the face after going through it might be nice.

If I knew I was going to be an apparition in my old age I might have had more fun with the concept. I would be stealing car keys left and right, hiding remote controls, and turning off alarm clocks.
